Job Summary
Clinical Documentation Specialist RN role focusing on reviewing medical records for documentation opportunities, educating physicians on documentation importance, and ensuring accuracy of clinical records to support patient care and payment. Responsibilities include communicating with physicians, addressing documentation gaps, educating clinicians and staff, participating in quality reviews, supporting denials management, and collaborating with inpatient coding and CDI teams. Requires RN licensure in Iowa, CDS certification within three years, and at least two years of acute care experience; proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong written/spoken communication, problem solving, and discretion with confidential information.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Iowa
- Certification as Clinical Documentation Specialist within three years of hire or transfer
- Education sufficient to obtain licensure
- Minimum two years acute care or equivalent clinical setting experience
