Job Summary
Conduct daily evaluations of outpatient medical records, lab results, and treatment plans to ensure documentation specificity, accuracy, and completeness for proper reimbursement. Utilize clinical and coding expertise to review provider performance, assign final diagnosis codes, and make recommendations for improving overall clinical documentation integrity. Communicate with ambulatory providers via electronic queries to clarify necessary documentation and educate the healthcare team on ICD-10 and CMS guidelines through presentations and departmental meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent nursing, health-related field, and/or business administration (or equivalent work experience)
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience required in a clinical setting and/or minimum 5 years' experience in a coding setting
