Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist

Job Summary
Evaluates and assesses patient medical records for illness specificity, clinician documentation accuracy, and coding requirements to ensure quality and regulatory compliance. Performs coding, working DRG assignments, and enters review activity into tracking software while formulating and following up on physician queries. Communicates conflicting data to department leads and acts as a liaison between medical staff and the coding department to capture accurate diagnoses and severity levels. Keeps abreast of regulatory changes related to documentation and coding, communicating updates to appropriate staff and attending ongoing education sessions.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience
- Three years' clinical experience
- Two years' clinical documentation experience
- Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner Certificate (DIP)
- Current licensed RN, medical provider or equivalent
- All required vaccinations
- E-Verify participation
