Job Summary
Clinical Documentation and Performance Improvement Specialist responsible for reviewing inpatient medical records to optimize clinical documentation for accurate MS-DRG assignment and quality metrics. Performs concurrent reviews, formulates physician queries to clarify missing or conflicting documentation, collaborates with physicians and staff to ensure accurate capture of severity of illness and risk of mortality, manages data extraction and reporting, utilizes performance improvement tools, and supports accreditation/validation processes. Requires Associate degree or higher with RN or RHIT/RHIA/CCDS certification/licensure and relevant acute care nursing/chart-review experience; proficient with Meditech, Excel, and data reporting; works in Maryville, IL on a full-time days schedule.
Required Qualifications
- RN or RHIT, RHIA, CCDS certification/licensure
- Associate degree or higher in nursing or health information management or related field
- Three or more years clinical acute care medical/surgical nursing experience preferred
- Computer skills required
