Job Summary
Capture patient anatomy using 3D scanning during clinic visits and translate scans into usable digital models. Create and modify parametric orthotic CAD models for AFOs, insoles, and braces using industry-standard software. Prepare parts for additive manufacturing by handling orientation, support generation, slicing, and file prep for SLS/FDM processes. Manage print production workflows, coordinate post-processing, and validate fit by collaborating with clinicians during fittings. Troubleshoot printing issues, implement quality control protocols, and maintain a version-controlled digital asset library. Train clinical staff in scanning methods and stay current on materials and regulatory considerations.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics (CPO), or a related technical field
- Techno-Commercial experience preferably within the O&P industry, medical devices sector, or a related field for min 5 years
- Strong technical understanding of O&P products
- Ability to effectively communicate complex information to clients
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knack for building rapport and trust
- Self-motivated and results-oriented
- Passion for driving and achieving targets
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative team
- Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events
- Diploma/degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or equivalent
- 2+ years experience in medical 3D printing or orthotics
- Proficiency in 3D scanning and CAD software such as Geomagic, Meshmixer, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar
- Experience with slicing and print-preparation software for SLS, FDM, and multi-material printers
- Willingness to attend clinic visits for fittings and doctor meetings as required
Desired Qualifications
- Background in Orthotics and Prosthetics or medical sales
- Strong IT skills: cloud-based file management (e.g., Google Drive/SharePoint), version control, and comfort with digital workflows and basic scripting (Python/automation)
- Familiarity with materials used in orthotics (Nylon 12, TPU, PLA, medical-grade resins) and post-processing techniques
- Attention to detail
- Good documentation practices
- Ability to work cross-functionally with clinical and operations teams
- Stay current on materials, 3D printing technologies and regulatory considerations relevant to medical devices
