Job Summary
Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy to patients of all age groups using the Nutrition Care Process and serve as a nutrition resource to medical staff, ETMC hospital staff, and the community. Identify and assess patients to initiate nutrition care plans, specifically evaluating trauma and acutely ill patients during the catabolic phase to recommend appropriate feeding modalities. Monitor current acceptance of nutrition and adjust plans as necessary to preserve lean body mass. Develop and teach nutrition materials and preparation methods to educate learners, while participating in multidisciplinary teams, trauma rounds, and committees to communicate nutritional needs. Assist in directing clinical support staff, develop quality indicators for performance improvement, and serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns during clinical rotations. Some callback and weekend work may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Dietetics
- active member of the American Dietetic Association
- Proof of current registration and Texas Licensure or must successfully pass exams within 1 year of employment
- Some callback and weekend work
Desired Qualifications
- 1-3 years clinical experience preferred
