Job Summary
Provide nutrition guidance and counseling to metabolic and bariatric surgery patients through development, implementation, and monitoring of dietary recommendations. Evaluate medical records to obtain information for accurate nutrition assessments and develop rapport with patients and families using effective education techniques. Develop and deliver nutrition information seminars while creating necessary education materials. Coordinate with the multidisciplinary team to establish patient readiness for surgery and evaluate progress toward established goals, adjusting interventions as needed. Maintain continuing education in the medical weight loss field and serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns or students. Work 40 hours per week in Shift 1 at Surgical Alliance Bariatric.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or related field
- Hold active registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian
- Must hold current licensure from the State of Connecticut as a Certified-Dietitian/Nutritionist
- Bariatric experience
Desired Qualifications
- 3+ years working as a Registered Dietitian
- Counseling bariatric patients in the pre and post-op surgical process in the outpatient setting
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Familiar with computer based charting system, EPIC or Exemplo
