Job Summary
The Clinical Care Assistant provides patients with safe, quality care throughout their treatment under the direction of the MD/NP/PA and/or supervision. Responsibilities include measuring height/weight and vital signs, screening for pain and distress, completing rooming procedures, reviewing medication lists and allergies in the EMR, updating EMR at each encounter, reviewing health histories, completing screening questionnaires, preparing patients for examination, assisting with provisions for prescribed treatments and procedures (e.g., bone marrow and skin biopsies), assisting with treatment room readiness, assisting with referrals and scheduling under provider direction, processing insurance pre-authorizations, stocking exam rooms, and communicating clinic needs to supervision. Requires multi-tasking in a fast-paced oncology setting, adherence to policies, and ongoing training/competency validation. Must have strong communication and teamwork skills and be willing to travel between Tennessee Oncology locations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 6 months recent healthcare setting experience (Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Care Partner, or similar) or LPN/RN nursing student who completed med-surg rotation
- Current BLS provider card within 3 months of hire
