Clinical Behavioral Health Internship (Metro/Chicagoland Area)

Job Summary

Conduct client assessments, develop treatment plans, and collaborate on interdisciplinary case discussions within a supervised behavioral health setting. Participate in team meetings, engage in participant interactions, and complete documentation and case management tasks while observing evidence-based therapeutic techniques. Attend regular supervision sessions and reflect on professional growth alongside required trainings in HIPAA, trauma-informed care, and safety protocols. This internship offers hands-on exposure to social services and community resources for students pursuing degrees in Social Work or Counseling.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a closely related clinical field.
  • Currently pursuing credit through and academic or other formalized educational program.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic organizational and time management skills.
  • Works well independently.
  • Interns must pass fingerprinting background check including CANTS and LEADS.

Desired Qualifications

  • Gain valuable experience in the Clinical Behavioral Health field.
  • Gain exposure to various therapeutic techniques and interventions used in behavioral health settings.
  • Observe and participate in client assessments and treatment planning processes.
  • Learn about the role of multidisciplinary collaboration in supporting client well-being.
  • Develop skills in documentation and case management practices.
  • Participate in team meetings and case discussions to understand clinical decision-making.
  • Enhance communication skills through interactions with program participants, families, and professionals.
  • Engage in opportunities for reflection and feedback to support personal and professional growth.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of social services and community resources.
  • Gain insight into the roles and responsibilities of professionals working in the behavioral health field.
  • Work in a supportive, supervised environment that prioritizes ethical and trauma-informed practices.
  • Participate in regular supervision with assigned supervisor.
  • Complete the following required and recommended trainings: Mandated Reporter, HIPAA, Sexual Harassment Awareness and Prevention, LGBTQIA+, Safety, Trauma 101 and ARC 101.
