Job Summary
Clinical Assistant 2 role in SEARHC’s rural ambulatory clinic providing care to a wide patient range. Responsibilities include rooming patients, POCT, vital signs, obtaining/updating medical history, documenting in patient charts, assisting with minor procedures (nebulizer treatments, cast removal, DM foot screenings, 12-lead EKGs), medication/immunization record maintenance, patient education, data entry, and supporting clinic operations and safety. Requires high school diploma or GED, current BLS, and Clinical Competency within 3 months of hire; experience or training options include CCMA program, CNA/EMT/CHA background, or SEARHC CCMA training with healthcare or customer-service experience. Proficiency in EMR systems, medical terminology, communication, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task in a team-based healthcare environment are essential. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED – required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – required
- Clinical Competency completed within 3 months of hire and every 3 years – required
- One of the following conditions must be met for experience: Completion of the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant program OR One year experience as a CA 1 with SEARHC with Competency Assessment OR One year experience as a CNA, EMT, or CHA
- Another condition: Completion of CCMA Training Program at SEARHC OR One year of healthcare experience OR 2 years of customer service experience OR Certified Nursing Assistant training OR EMT: 1 year actively practicing EMT OR Alaska Community Health Aide –level 1 completed
- Knowledge of clinic procedures, vital signs, basic triage, medical terminology
- Skills: communication, customer service, computer applications, EMR systems, data recording
- Ability to train and use EMR systems and work within a multidisciplinary team
- Multi-tasking and ability to care for more than one patient simultaneously
- Recognize and respond in emergency situations
- Operate medical equipment (BP cuff, pulse oximeter, EKG, etc.)
