Clinical Assistant Professor/Lecturer

Job Summary

Coordinate and deliver the didactic and clinical curriculum for Physician Assistant Studies, including developing, refining, and teaching assigned courses. Manage student assessments across written exams, OSCEs, lab practicals, and clinical skills, providing remedial instruction and communicating progress to the retention specialist. Lead student recruitment, admissions, and serve as a primary Capstone advisor while maintaining accurate, confidential student records. Engage in interprofessional education activities, community outreach at least once per semester, and conduct site visits for clinical preceptor recruitment and maintenance. Participate in ongoing program evaluation, weekly meetings, and departmental committees to ensure compliance with ARC-PA accreditation standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Must possess a graduate-level degree, preferably a doctoral degree
  • Graduation from an ARC-PA accredited PA program
  • Current certification by the NCCPA
  • Currently holds or is eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois
  • Minimum of three (3) years of full-time clinical/patient care experience as an APP
  • Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Employment at Dominican University is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with technologies (or strong desire to learn) including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, Canvas (LMS), Examsoft, Exxat, Lecturio, Sharepoint, Teams
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
  • Experience in formal classroom or clinical teaching (precepting)
  • A minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in primary care, emergency medicine, or internal/family medicine
  • Highly motivated, team player with strong work ethic, and possessing a high level of collaborative competencies
  • Provide evidence of inclusive pedagogy designed to reach a diverse student population
