Job Summary

Room clients for height, weight, blood pressure, and visual acuity screenings while documenting nurse visits, patient encounters, and medication refills. Administer oral and injectable medications and vaccinations, including determining appropriate vaccines based on CDC and MDH schedules. Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and waived lab testing, and coordinate diagnostic testing and referrals to inside and outside providers. Handle reception and clerical tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, checking patients in, coordinating referrals, and managing prior authorizations. This role requires a Minnesota practical nursing license or Certified Medical Assistant certification, a valid driver's license, and BLS certification. Schedule is a day shift with rotating weekends, 72 hours per pay period. Mille Lacs Health System offers medical, dental, and vision benefits, tuition reimbursement, and a wellness program.

Required Qualifications

  • BLS Certification
  • Valid driver's license
  • Certification or registration from an accrediting body such as the AAMA or the ARMA (must successfully pass Certified Medical Assistant exam within six months of hire) or possess a Minnesota practical nursing license through the Minnesota Board of Nursing
  • Knowledge of nursing principles, policies and procedures and medical ethics equivalent to years of experience
  • Excellent communication skills across disciplines and at various levels
  • Possession of attention to detail, organization and prioritization skills
  • Basic Computer skills and comprehension including Word
  • Willingness to train and provide a productive learning environment for students, externs and new staff
  • Ability to work amidst multiple distractions while maintaining excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical equipment/supplies, medication dosing, storage, and administration
  • Must be self-motivated and independent
  • Ability to work well with team members
  • Travel between clinic locations
