Job Summary
Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor and Director of the Medical Lab Sciences Program at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) in Laredo, TX. The role is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track appointment combining administrative leadership and undergraduate teaching of Medical Laboratory Science. Primary duties include leadership for program implementation, accreditation support, curriculum development and assessment, teaching MLS courses, mentoring students (including multicultural, multilingual, and first-generation students), recruiting and evaluating program faculty, developing clinical partnerships and coordinating student clinical education experiences, and contributing to service at department, college, university, professional, and community levels. Requires face-to-face on-campus presence; includes opportunities for summer teaching and financial support for professional development; moving expenses may be covered. Strong emphasis on curriculum planning, accreditation processes, program administration, and stakeholder partnerships to advance student success and workforce development in South Texas and the border region. Candidates should hold a master’s degree in a relevant field, MLS/MT certification, and several years of clinical and higher education experience; PhD/EdD or related doctorate is encouraged.
Required Qualifications
- earned master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Sciences, Health Sciences, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution
- current national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (MLS/MT) through ASCP Board of Certification or equivalent certification
- minimum of five years of professional clinical laboratory experience across multiple laboratory disciplines
- minimum of three years of higher education teaching, laboratory education, clinical instruction, or academic program administration experience
- demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, assessment practices, accreditation processes, and program administration
- strong organizational, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- PhD/EdD/DM/science-related doctorate encouraged (preferred)
- experience with accreditation activities, program development, curriculum planning, or academic leadership (preferred)
- experience developing clinical partnerships and coordinating clinical education experiences (preferred)
- experience working with multicultural, multilingual, and first-generation student populations (preferred)
