Job Summary
Escort patients from the waiting room to exam rooms, take histories and vital signs, and prepare them for treatment. Perform selected nursing duties including administering medications per provider orders, giving injections, and performing EKGs. Maintain clinical supplies and equipment, prepare and clean exam rooms, and ensure proper handling and storage of sample medications. Assist physicians with examinations, screen telephone calls, and schedule tests. Collaborate with the Care Team to assess patient progress and teach self-management tasks. Perform CLIA waived tests proficiently and contribute to policy development. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and CLIA compliance policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS
- Ability to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day
- Ability to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard
- Ability to continuously work under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines
- Ability to continuously utilize manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit and utilize eye/hand coordination and color definition
- Ability to occasionally reach above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs
- Ability to occasionally walk on uneven surfaces
- Self-motivation
- Ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic
