Job Summary
Provide first-line supervision and instructions for climbing and rappelling activities while modeling the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions. Become thoroughly familiar with all climbing and rappelling facilities and the proper gear supplied prior to the camping season. Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area while performing additional duties assigned by SBR leadership. Participate in specialized program training during the staff training period and continue on-the-job training throughout the season. Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines, and abide by policies outlined in the SBR staff handbook. Work 45-55 hours daily hiking up to 8 hours and lifting up to 70 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age: 18+
- Must be able to complete Guide Training and assessment (provided)
- Body weight between 50-250 as per the manufacture's requirement for participation
- Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
- Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication
- Ability to stand, walk, and hike up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 70 pounds
- Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred: Experience guiding/facilitating and managing others
- High emotional intelligence (such as self/social awareness and team dynamics)
- Positive and cheerful attitude with a strong customer-service focus
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to learn/develop hard and soft skills
- Ability to connect with individuals from diverse age groups, maturity, and backgrounds
