Job Summary
Climb, prune, and remove trees according to Foreperson's directives while enforcing safe practices and rules. Load and unload trucks with logs, brush, and debris, feeding material into the brush chipper. Work from the ground using hand saws, pole saws, pruners, loppers, and gas-powered chain saws, ensuring proper tool conditions. Safeguard employees and the public by keeping work areas clean, maintaining voice communication with co-workers, and performing storm work as needed. Full-time role with benefits including health, vision, dental, and 401K; pay range $23-$29 an hour.
Required Qualifications
- Prior professional experience as a climber
- Working knowledge of all knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree trimming and removal operations
- Ability to climb and descend trees using rope and safety saddle
- Ability to administer and implement emergency rescue techniques, including tree rescue and all applicable first aid techniques
- Familiarity with electrical hazards and appropriate operating procedure when in proximity to electrical conductors
- Ability to work and maneuver at considerable heights under varying and adverse weather conditions
- Physical strength and agility, good balance, good depth perception and the ability to hear verbal instructions from a distance
- Ability to quickly remove yourself from a potential danger area
- Ability to obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR
- Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
- Work authorization to work in the U.S. (I-9 requirements)
Desired Qualifications
- Previous professional experience in vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries
- Previous climbing experience
- High School diploma or education equivalent
