Job Summary
This role involves improving climate and nature risk models and developing analytical tools to support financial market participants and governments in understanding climate-related risks. The Climate Data Scientist will leverage expertise in climate systems and analytical skills to develop climate risk assessment products and handle complex geospatial data sets. Key responsibilities include building reliable data sets, maintaining existing models, evaluating new data sources, and collaborating with colleagues to enhance sustainable finance solutions. Required qualifications include a Master's degree in a relevant field and proficiency with Python, climate data interpretation, and statistical analysis.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced university degree in atmospheric or physical sciences, meteorology, hydrology, environmental science, or a related field
- Experience working as a climate scientist, hazard modeller, environmental engineer, or similar
- Ability to use and interpret climate model outputs and projections, including those from CMIP datasets
- Strong skills in working with large geospatial and climate datasets using Python
- Familiarity with geospatial data formats such as NetCDF, Zarr, and GeoTIFF
- Working knowledge of UNIX shell and Docker
- Solid data science and statistical analysis skills
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem‐solving skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with AI or machine learning methods and developing predictive models
- Research experience or climate-related publications
- Experience in ESG or sustainable climate finance
- Knowledge of French or German
