Job Summary
Climate Adaptation/Resilience Planner to support Rincon’s SCR+ Practice in developing and implementing climate action and adaptation plans, resiliency strategies, climate impact modeling, and vulnerability assessments for cities, counties, and special districts across California. Responsibilities include leading and supporting a portfolio of projects, managing budgets and workflows, coordinating with clients and partners, guiding engagement efforts, and producing technical writings and memoranda. Required skills include project management, data management, quantitative and qualitative modeling, communication and writing, and a good working knowledge of climate adaptation and California climate legislation. The role involves collaboration with public agencies and private clients, engagement with diverse communities, and the ability to operate in a hybrid work environment with possible office-based collaborations within California.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Engineering or related discipline
- 4 years+ of related experience plus Master’s degree, or 2 years of related experience plus a PhD
- Experience managing budgets for multifaceted work programs
- Data management and analysis experience
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel or equivalent
- Strong interest in climate science and problem solving
- Excellent communication, planning, budgeting, and organizational skills
- Strong writing skills
- Demonstrated experience in energy, climate, or related field preferred
