Job Summary
Client Support Specialist Floater provides trauma-informed emotional support, structure, and community-building within Safe Harbor shelter locations. Responsibilities include carrying a Shelter Support caseload, conducting check-ins, facilitating roommate agreements and re-entry conversations, leading or assisting with Community Living activities, assisting with intakes, room inspections, inventory management, and applying trauma-informed communication to maintain a safe, calm shelter environment. The role also covers documentation of client interactions, QA and data tracking, shift coverage across locations, helpline support, and collaboration with supervisors to ensure consistent service delivery across shelters. Requires working in a residential shelter setting, strong organizational and documentation skills, and a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–2 years of experience in shelter, communal living, or trauma-informed environments preferred
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and community living practices that promote safety and structure
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and agency database
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Ability to remain calm and professional during crises and changing shelter conditions
- Ability to lift and transport supplies, walk stairs, and engage in hands-on facility tasks
