Job Summary
Process ARUP specimens daily by aliquoting, labeling, and preparing them for transport in accordance with DOT and IATA guidelines while maintaining required inventory of supplies. Resolve client issues regarding specimen submissions and act as a liaison for questions on requirements, fees, and turnaround times. Manage shipments by coordinating with local and regional couriers and ensuring compliance with infectious substance handling certifications. Maintain records, distribute technical updates, and research pending test lists while adhering to SOPs and regulatory agency requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Current Certification of Completion for Handling, Packing and Shipping Infectious Substances
- Familiarity with all aspects of packing and transport of Category A, Category B
- Familiarity with CAP, NY and other regulatory agency requirements where applicable
- Competence with Clients LIS, ARUP Connect
- Ability to stoop and bend body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist
- Ability to reach and extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
- Ability to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Ability to frequently communicate with others
- Ability to use personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company/departmental policies
- Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
- Ability to pick, pinch, type or otherwise work, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling
