Job Summary
Process ARUP specimens by aliquoting, labeling, and preparing them for transport in accordance with DOT and IATA guidelines. Resolve issues related to specimen submissions and test requirements while acting as a liaison between the client site and ARUP's training, business development, and support services divisions. Manage inventory of supplies, maintain records, and coordinate with local couriers to ensure shipment schedules are met. Communicate with clients regarding specimen requirements, fees, turnaround times, and referral vendors. Maintain competency with Clients LIS and ARUP Connect while complying with all SOPs, CAP, and regulatory agency requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Hold a current Certification of Completion for Handling, Packing and Shipping Infectious Substances
- Be familiar with all aspects of packing and transport of Category A, Category B
- Be familiar with CAP, NY and other regulatory agency requirements where applicable
- Be competent with Clients LIS, ARUP Connect
- Be able to stoop, bend body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist
- Be able to reach, extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
- Be able to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Be able to communicate frequently with others
- Be able to use personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company/departmental policies
- Be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
- Be able to pick, pinch, type or otherwise work, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling
