Job Summary
Register patients, update electronic records, and schedule appointments with reminder notifications. Verify insurance status, collect payments, and manage claim data for same-day and upcoming appointments. Scan and label documents, provide patient portal access, and respond to behavioral health phone line inquiries. Assist with psychiatry referrals, order interpreters, and facilitate correspondence for lab results and referrals. Perform daily opening and closing duties while maintaining data integrity and adhering to HIPAA policies.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or 2 years of equivalent work experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to manage time and effort to meet strategic objectives
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service, both internal and external
- Knowledge of all applicable WWH policies and procedures
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of healthcare information systems with the ability to adapt to new electronic medical records and population health platforms
- Analytical skills
- Ability to maintain records and information in an accurate, timely, and confidential manner
- Ability to adapt to changes in the service delivery model, re-prioritizing as necessary
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts as necessary
- Flexibility to work within the organization's various locations as necessary
- Commitment to health equity
- Ability to work independently and learn quickly
- Ability to effectively communicate with staff and patients in an affirming, respectful, and efficient manner
- Fluency in medical terminology
- Fluency in HIPAA laws and regulations
- Knowledge of eCW, and computer software programs used by client services
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Possess the ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of staff, patients, and the public, and to work comfortably with people with HIV, and persons with different ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities, color, religions, marital status, national origin, age, disability, and veteran status
Desired Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in a health care or call center
- 5 years experience in behavioral health environment
- Fluency in medical terminology
- 1 year of experience working with members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Gender Expansive, Queer, Asexual, and Intersexed communities
- 1 year of experience working with people living with HIV or issues related to HIV care
