Job Summary
Maintain clients' public benefits by liaising with local governments and Departments of Social Services to ensure access to SNAP, TANF, RCA, and Medicaid. Contact clients for reminders regarding benefit interviews, renewals, and appointments, while documenting activities in case files and filing Department of Social Services notices. Compile and edit local resource sheets and benefits manuals, advocate for client needs with program staff, and record hours via the online Volunteer Dashboard. This unpaid internship supports direct service teams in Employment and Family Wellbeing, offering insight into the resettlement process and public policy in practice.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree
- Good written and verbal communications skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and able to engage clients in a counseling role
- Reliable, responsible, punctual and professional
- Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Comfortable working in a global setting
Desired Qualifications
- Fluency in languages spoken by clients (Dari, Pashto, Arabic, Kiswahili, French, etc.)
