Job Summary
Client Accounting Specialist responsible for configuring Clarity, managing accounting workflows, reconciling school accounts, advising on accounting treatments, supporting audit preparation, and building scalable processes. Requires CPA, 3+ years in accounting roles, experience with subsidiary-ledger systems and financial systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, NetSuite). Emphasizes remote-first work with a USA remote footprint; accountable for GL, reconciliations, monthly close, financial reporting, and collaboration with implementation and client-success teams.
Required Qualifications
- A current CPA license in good standing is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting, bookkeeping, outsourced accounting services, or a related accounting profession.
- Experience working in software systems that act as a subsidiary ledger for organizations (ideally a billing system).
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
- Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and responsiveness.
- Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies.
- Comfortable explaining accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders.
- Sound judgment about when to advise, when to escalate, and when to push back on a school's approach.
- Experience with QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or similar financial systems.
- Growth mindset and desire to join a rapidly growing team.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Advanced spreadsheet skills.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and building structure where none exists yet.
