Job Summary
Clerk VI, Bilingual responsible for performing a variety of general clerical, typing, and recordkeeping duties within the department. Responsibilities include typing letters, masters, permits, records, requisitions, and other materials; maintaining records and compiling statistical reports; handling mail, distributing materials, and assisting in budget accounts; filing and locating materials; operating office equipment (laminator, varityper, merlin, lettering equipment); answering inquiries, providing information to staff and the public; coordinating activities between the department and other district offices; and supervising the work of others as assigned. Bilingual ability may be required depending on assignment; tests include a Clerical Test and Spanish Literacy Test. This position requires independence in applying standard policies and procedures and a focus on clerical functions to support departmental effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- Typing certificate - 40 Net WPM (Valid certificate within three years of the deadline of this bulletin)
- Typing/shorthand certificates accepted from accredited colleges or business colleges
- Clerical Test
- Spanish Literacy Test - Bakersfield College Tier II Bilingual Certificate accepted in lieu of district Spanish Literacy Test
