Job Summary
Maintain databases and records for special education, 504, emergent bilingual, and gifted and talented programs while ensuring accommodations are distributed. Schedule meetings, transfer records, and notify teachers and parents to meet deadlines. Articulate the school's mission and vision to stakeholders, communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff, and promote a positive school climate. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and maintain confidentiality on all job-related matters. This role supports the administration of special education in a remote learning environment for Texas Virtual Schools. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working with students, parents, and educational agencies
- Experience involving Special Education, 504, Emergent Bilingual, and Gifted and Talented
- Knowledgeable of applicable and relevant federal, state, and local laws when it comes to special programs (Special Education, 504, Emergent Bilingual, and Gifted and Talented)
- Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to manage a digital task list and maintain a stable remote (home-office) infrastructure
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience using the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) in a professional or academic setting
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas via written channels (Email, Google Chat, and Document Comments) with high clarity and low ambiguity
- Access to a private, secure, high-speed internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds
- Strong consultation skills for conferencing with counselors, school districts, parents, and students
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- The ability to speak Spanish fluently is preferred but not required
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, ESL Education, Communications, or other related fields
- Certificate in Instructional Design, Online Course Development, or LXD
