Job Summary

Receptionist/Clerk provides clerical services under the direction of the Transition Manager, including reception, word processing, data entry, record keeping, filing, mail distribution, payroll and scheduling appointments/meetings. The role requires proficient MS Office skills, confidentiality, data-entry accuracy, and the ability to manage a fast-paced workload in a healthcare setting within the Long-Term Care Access Centre. Prior health-care experience is an asset, with responsibilities extending to minutes/ agendas and coordination of routine office tasks in a non-clinical environment.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduation with formal training in business and office procedures or equivalent
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel and Access)
  • Keyboarding speed of 50 wpm
  • Experience scheduling and coordinating meetings
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset
  • Experience with email and computerized calendars
  • Experience with using a Dictaphone
  • Ability to protect confidentiality of information
  • Ability to learn to work with routine statistics and discern replication or errors in data
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
