Job Summary
Escort and monitor visitors to secure sites in Columbia, Maryland, confirming identification, inspecting visitors and hand-carried items, and maintaining line-of-sight. Control physical and electronic access by unlocking doors, managing locks, and preventing theft of physical or intellectual property. Maintain visitor access logs, develop knowledge of post orders and policies, and report security or safety incidents. Guide individuals throughout the site while promoting awareness of data center security policies to clients and vendors. Complete pre-assignment, client, state, and PGI sustainment training, including online modules, and execute assigned reports. Travel to local sites to perform duties, maintaining standards of competency, conduct, and integrity in compliance with company and client codes.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of one (1) year as a security escort, or one year of local, state, or federal law enforcement experience
- A minimum of 21 years of age
- Ability to complete a security officer training course and conduct regularly scheduled sustainment training
- Ability to operate various security screening related equipment
- Must have reliable transportation during all seasons
- Firm grasp on the use and implementation of technology, programs, and applications on data bearing devices
- Strong ability to learn new technology systems and programs
- Ability to demonstrate professional communication via verbal, written, and email correspondence
- Must have High School diploma or GED
- Ability to complete State Security Guard Certification including the application process, fingerprints, and background investigation
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and periodic random drug screening
- Required Security Clearance: Top Secret / SCI with Polygraph
Desired Qualifications
- Current State-issued Security Guard Certification
- A minimum of one (1) year of honorable military service, active or reserve, in any branch of the US Armed Forces
- Two (2) years of security, military, or law enforcement experience
- Demonstrated history of safe and successful security operations experience in highly secure facilities
- Previous experience operating a Walk-Through Metal Detector, hand-held metal detector and hand-held radio
