Job Summary
Direct day-to-day coordination of trade contractors and subcontractors to ensure high-quality work meets the approved project schedule. Develop and communicate work plans for field changes, maintain thorough understanding of contract documents, and verify necessary permits. Act as primary safety representative enforcing compliance, lead regular contractor meetings, and create contingency plans while managing jobsite logistics. Train direct reports on project needs and construction knowledge, review scopes of work, and assist in financial forecasting. Maintain daily reports using software tools and communicate schedule status updates to the project team. This Cleanroom Superintendent role is based in the Chicagoland area for a $50M pharmaceutical project, requiring 100% on-site presence and offering relocation or subsistence support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
- 7-12 years of experience leading a component of work or whole project for a value of $30 million or larger on commercial/industrial construction project(s) in a superintendent role
- Previous experience with clean rooms, pharmaceutical manufacturing, laboratories, or research & development facilities
- OSHA 30-hour certified
- STS-C Certification
- First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed Training
- 100% on site presence
- Strong technical and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to collaborate on a daily basis with the project team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of suite of construction software tools, including logistics and scheduling software
- Construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction
- Experience and proficiency in most divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control
- Strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety plan
- Ability to create an environment where 'safety first' is the culture and all trades people work with an incident and injury free attitude
- Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
