Job Summary
Oversee daily cleaning operations and service delivery at St Johns Shopping Centre, ensuring compliance with COSHH, health & safety, and client specifications. Plan staffing levels, produce flexible rotas, and manage stock of cleaning materials. Conduct regular site audits, monitor defects, and escalate maintenance issues promptly. Lead a team through training, inductions, and performance appraisals while managing recruitment and employee relations. Provide a visible presence, respond to customer queries and incidents, and hold client meetings to support contract retention. You will assume the role of Duty Manager twice weekly (08:00–17:00) and one Saturday monthly. This hands-on management role requires experience in cleaning or facilities management, strong leadership, and the ability to deliver a high standard of hygiene in a fast-paced retail environment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience of managing large teams within cleaning, facilities, or associated services
- Strong knowledge of cleaning standards, processes, COSHH, and health & safety compliance
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams
- Experience managing performance, recruitment, and employee relations issues
- Highly organised with strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build lasting relationships
- Competent in Microsoft 365
- Confident in managing change and maintaining service delivery within a dynamic environment
- A proactive, high-energy approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
- A flexible, team-oriented mindset with a hands-on approach to management
- Professional, proactive, and committed to high service standards
- Must be able to work 45 hours per week
- Must be available for early starts and late finishes
- Must be available for one Saturday per month
- Must be able to work within the location: St Johns Shopping Centre, Liverpool, L1 1LY
