Job Summary
Cleaner position at Scarsdale Public Schools to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and community. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, vacuuming carpets, washing windows, emptying trash, dusting surfaces, cleaning/restrooms, replacing light bulbs, operating custodial equipment, snow shoveling, and assisting with seasonal grounds maintenance. Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds, read/write/communicate in English, work independently or as part of a team, and follow safety procedures including MSDS guidance. Occasional travel between buildings may be required; safety gear and protective equipment are provided. Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, plus the ability to perform routine maintenance tasks is essential.
Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of building cleaning methods, supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and perform routine custodial tasks.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Ability to work independently, follow directions, and contribute as a member of a team.
