Job Summary
Cleaner role with BGIS Sustainable Cleaning Solutions focusing on cleaning in a designated zone, quality control, health and safety, and exceeding client expectations. Responsibilities include floor care (sweeping, scrubbing, vacuuming, mopping), stripping and finishing floors, cleaning washrooms and glass areas, transporting supplies and machinery, following chemical and equipment safety procedures (WHMIS), and performing other duties as assigned. Requires lifting up to 25 pounds, weekend/holiday and multi-location work, and adherence to safety and procedural guidelines. Security clearance requirements and a valid Class G license may be required. The position is regular, full-time or part-time with a salary range of $17.60 - $20.88 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in performing cleaning, housekeeping and maintenance activities in an institutionalized environment.
- Experience in using floor maintenance machines, cleaning equipment, materials and solutions.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the provisions that apply to this work including WHMIS.
- Ability to lift, push and pull heavy items as well as climb ladders.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, clients and the general public.
- Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays and shifts as assigned as well as work in multiple locations.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, prepare and maintain manual and electronic records.
- Must meet security clearance requirements, where applicable
- Must have a valid Class G license (may be required)
