Job Summary
Lead the ICCT's vehicle policy portfolio in Kenya by building relationships with government officials, NGOs, industry partners, and media to shape national transportation and environmental policies. Develop and execute outreach and media strategies to raise the visibility of research on fuel-efficiency standards and zero-emission vehicle requirements. Organize stakeholder engagements and public conferences to discuss policy revisions, while writing technical reports, policy briefings, and articles summarizing research findings. Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of technology and operational strategies to inform local and national policies on reducing vehicle emissions. Operate as a self-directed leader with high independence, collaborating closely with global colleagues to set priorities and represent the organization as its sole in-country staff member.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with Kenyan policy-making processes
- Established connections within the Kenyan government, industry, and NGOs
- Demonstrated experience with stakeholder engagement
- Building relationships with government officials, NGOs, and media
- Facilitating collaboration on public policy development
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in engineering, environmental science, environmental policy, energy and resources, transportation, or another relevant field
- Equivalent professional experience
- 3+ years of applicable stakeholder engagement and/or research experience
- Experience within a transportation field
- Strong English communication skills
