Job Summary
Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher; assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays; administer and score objective tests or work assignments; supervise students across the school day including lunchroom, bus, and playground; help maintain an orderly classroom and assist with equipment, records, and substitute teacher orientation; requires high school diploma or GED with 48 college hours or a paraprofessional certificate and a Texas Educational Aide Certificate; 187-day school year; located at Restorative Transition Center; equal opportunity employer; strong communication skills and ability to work with children; prior experience with children preferred; duties include staff development, meetings, and compliance with safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 48 college hours with some emphasis on child growth or development or a related area
- Treasuring Our Paraprofessional Certificate (must be obtained prior to employment; applicant is responsible for all associated costs)
- Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively (orally & writing)
- Experience: Some experience working with children
