Job Summary
Assist in the classroom and on the bus to support children's full participation in the Head Start preschool experience. Maintain compliance with DCY Child Care Licensing, SUTQ, and Head Start Program and Performance Standards, including completing at least 15 hours of annual professional development. Provide active supervision of children, assist with bathroom procedures and diapering, and support implementation of health, emergency procedures, and first aid. Accompany drivers on the bus route serving as the monitor while ensuring proper supervision during transitions, nap times, and mealtimes. Adhere to the program Confidentiality Policy and serve as a mandated reporter of child abuse and neglect.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be physically capable of working with young children including the ability to lift, see, and hear children at all possible times
- Must be insurable under the agency's policy
- Must have knowledge of child development principles and appropriate discipline techniques
- Mandated reporter of Child Abuse and Neglect
- Always maintain proper supervision of children; employ active supervision techniques
- Assist child with bathroom procedures; perform diapering duties as necessary
- Assists with the implementation of health, emergency procedures and first aid
- Respond appropriately to crisis or emergency situations
- Assist with the implementation of the daily schedule, lesson plan, and care giving routines for children
- As assigned accompany drivers on the bus route serving as the monitor
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with infants/toddlers/preschool age children
- Infant/Toddler/Preschool CDA
