Job Summary
Accept direction from the classroom teacher to enhance student learning through routine activities like grading, setting up demonstrations, and supervising drills. Assist with instructional aids, lesson plan implementation, and small study groups while managing classroom supervision and field trips. Collect resources, review materials, and support teachers in developing communication skills under the principal's oversight. Submit a transfer application if eligible as a current support staff member. Requires proficiency with MS Office and Google programs, along with a caring manner for working with students and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Missouri substitute certificate
- Minimum of sixty (60) semester hours from an accredited college/university
- Friendly, helpful attitude in working with students and staff
- Positive, caring manner with children
- Ability to interact effectively with staff and parents
- Ability to move within building, classrooms, and playgrounds
- Ability to relate and communicate to students regardless of their needs
- Ability to safely supervise children in all areas of the building, inside and outside
- Ability to understand limited role of classroom assistant with respect to teacher responsibilities
- Proficient with computer using MS Office and Google programs, printer, fax, and phone
