Job Summary
The Classroom Assistant Teacher will work in conjunction with the Classroom Teacher to schedule and track home visits and assessments, create and update individualized plans for children, guide daily activities, and facilitate classroom environments. Responsibilities include maintaining communication with families, participating in meal services, following health and safety procedures, and assisting in implementing children's Individual Education Plans. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, possess a Child Development Associate credential or be in a program to obtain one within one year, and have basic computer skills.
Required Qualifications
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Have a valid High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Possess a Preschool (PS) Child Development Associate credential or state-awarded certificate that meets/exceeds the requirements for a CDA credential or be enrolled in a CDA program immediately upon acceptance of position. Must complete within 1 year.
- Must have basic computer skills to include, but not limited to, data entry and internet.
- Have reliable transportation; hold a valid driver's license and adequate car insurance.
Desired Qualifications
- Some childcare experience is preferred.
- Preferred Bilingual in Spanish and English (oral and written).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Additional Requirements
- Employment with UMOS is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check prior to employment.
- Physical exam and TB screening test showing absence of Tuberculosis within 30 days of employment or sooner if required by local/state regulation.
- Complete SIDS & Shaken Baby Training prior to working with children.
- Fire Extinguisher Training.
- Proof of certification in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid within 30 days or sooner if required by local/state regulation.
- Register in the state childcare registry.
