Job Summary
Assist the teacher in presenting and preparing lessons, monitoring the Positive Behavior Training system, and instructing students in academic or behavioral areas. Plan and deliver weekly whole-group elective lessons while supervising students during lunch, transitions, and recess. Document and distribute team, conference, and parent notes, complete daily attendance reporting, and support the administration of student medications. Ensure adherence to school policies, the CA Educational Code, and the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Law. This non-exempt hourly full-time role in Palo Alto requires two years of related experience and a B.A. in childcare, education, or mental health.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of and/or classroom teaching experience with children with emotional, behavioral, and learning disabilities
- Ability to work on an interdisciplinary team
- Knowledge of basic computer skills to communicate via email and to prepare documents on a word processor
- Able to undergo training and implementation of Pro-ACT crisis management system
- Able to stand and sit for extended periods for instruction and supervision
- Able to lift and/or move up to 20 lbs
- Non-Exempt Hourly Full-Time
- Works Monday through Friday in Palo Alto
Desired Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in fields related to childcare, education, or mental health
- B.A. in fields related to childcare, education and mental health
- Experience working with students with learning/behavioral challenges
