Job Summary
Support preschoolers with special needs in self-contained and integrated classrooms by working under the direction of teachers, initiating positive interactions, and functioning effectively in busy environments. Provide one-on-one support for individual children throughout the school day or offer general classroom assistance to the entire group. Collaborate with related service providers including occupational, physical, and speech therapists while actively participating in all classroom activities. Use of a car or dependable public transportation is required for this 25-hour weekly role within a school-year calendar. Training is provided for candidates with or without prior experience.
Required Qualifications
- be able to work under the direction of the classroom teacher
- self-initiate positive interactions with preschoolers with special needs
- function successfully in a busy classroom
- be a team player
- work successfully with various staff members and related service providers including Occupational, Physical and Speech & Language Therapists
- be an active participant in all areas of the classroom
- Use of a car (or access to dependable public transportation) is required
