Job Summary
Assist the Head Teacher in developing a nurturing and challenging classroom environment by planning and implementing classroom activities and performing daily classroom management and program operations under direct supervision. Operate a fax and copy machine with basic computer skills. Maintain a valid Hawaii driver's license and clear driver's abstract, and travel in a personal vehicle as needed throughout the island. Complete required CPR and First Aid training upon hire and undergo a criminal background investigation. This part-time role supports thousands of families in strengthening community development across generations.
Required Qualifications
- High school, plus additional courses or specialized training at business or community college, or other formal training facility or program
- Ability to understand and carry out assigned duties effectively
- Ability to operate a fax and copy machine
- Computer skills
- CDA credential, state awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirement for a CDA credential
- Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or University
- Enrolled in a program that will lead to an Associate or Baccalaureate degree
- Enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years (24 months) of the time of hire
- CPR and First Aid certificate
- Valid Hawaii driver's license
- Clear driver's abstract
- Willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island
- Subject to a criminal background investigation
Desired Qualifications
- One year's experience in a childcare setting (home or center based)
- Good verbal and written communication skills
