Job Summary
Assist licensed staff in the classroom by supporting students with special needs through academic adaptations, self-care, and social/behavioral needs. Aid individuals and small groups in meeting individualized education plans while maintaining a conducive learning environment. Provide support for students in crisis and perform personal care tasks such as feeding and toileting. Work with individuals or small groups during activities and assignments, utilizing varied learning methods to enhance experiences. This role requires high school diploma or GED, one year of experience with special needs children, and US work authorization. Schedule includes minimum three days Monday through Friday between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm. Zen Educate connects schools with educators to simplify hiring and increase access to opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ years of experience working with children with special needs
- Professional proficiency in English
- US Work Authorization
- Comfortable being on your feet and moving around the classroom throughout the day
- Able to lift up to 20 lbs and safely assist students when needed (kneeling, bending, quick response)
Desired Qualifications
- Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) with a Paraprofessional (PARA) endorsement from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE)
- Previous experience working in special education
- Behavioral Technician or PCA experience
- Crisis prevention (CPI) training
- CPR certification
