Job Summary
Assist in activities in preschool classrooms and centers while working with typically developing children, children with disabilities, and various preschool staff. Cover breaks for Lead Teachers and Associate Teachers, and fill vacancies to maintain required licensing ratios by traveling to centers as necessary. Engage in activities with children in the classroom and on the playground, supporting their social-emotional needs, oral communication, and age-appropriate developmental skills. Perform cleaning duties as assigned and attend professional development opportunities. Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information and collaborate flexibly with staff including food service workers. This 10-month, non-exempt role offers a salary of $17.25 to $20.60 per hour at the Livingston Educational Service Agency.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1-year of experience working with preschool age children
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to remain confidential when exposed to sensitive information
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team and demonstrate flexibility
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of school districts and community
- Experience working with Head Start/Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) families
- CPR certified
