Job Summary
Conduct health procedures including lifting, positioning, feeding, tube feeding, tracheostomy care, and medication administration per Individual Health Plans. Assist and implement instructional plans within inclusive, resource, and self-contained classrooms while monitoring and adjusting strategies based on student needs. Maintain logs documenting support provided and medical data as required. Follow daily schedules to provide cognitive, motor, and behavioral support while supervising study areas, cafeterias, and field trips. Perform routine sanitation duties and reinforce positive student behaviors through collaboration with teachers. Assist designated instructional service providers with physical development activities and use assistive technology. Attend required workshops and trainings while maintaining confidentiality of student information.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Pass the teacher/paraprofessional assessment test with a score of 450 or higher
- Associate degree or higher
- 48 hours of college with six hours of Math and nine hours of English
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of students and parents
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students
- Ability to assist in lifting and positioning students
- 170 days employment term
