Job Summary
Implement positive behavior supports and crisis plans while monitoring student safety in elementary and secondary classrooms. Collect data, maintain behavior logs, and document student progress within inclusive, resource, and self-contained settings. Provide intensive behavior intervention using Handle with Care training and assist with instructional plans, IEPs, and emergency health plans. Supervise study areas, cafeterias, halls, and field trips; perform non-complex health procedures and assist with assistive technology. Maintain confidentiality of student information and attend required trainings. Work 170 days in a loud environment with collaboration required for effective instructional programs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Pass the teacher/paraprofessional assessment test with a score of 450 or higher
- Associate degree or higher
- 48 hours of college with six hours of Math and nine hours of English
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of students and parents
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students
- Ability to stand and talk
- Ability to walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch
- Ability to assist in lifting students and positioning students
- Ability to physically implement Handle with Care techniques
- 170 days employment term
