Job Summary
Educational Sign Language Interpreter at Fremont Public Schools for a Middle School setting. Provides interpreting and support services to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in inclusive, mainstreamed, or self-contained settings; facilitates communication among students, staff, families, and the school community; collaborates with teachers to plan and implement access to instruction; participates in IEP teams and adheres to NDE Rule 51 guidelines; relies on in-person, on-site attendance during a 7.5-hour school day with a start in August; reports to the Director of Special Education/Building Administrator; duties include interpreting, academic support when appropriate, and maintaining confidentiality while supporting student access and communication across all school activities.
Required Qualifications
- Education Level: High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to meet NDE Rule 51 criteria for sign language interpreters
- Bachelor’s degree and/or completion of interpreter preparation program preferred
- Driver's License
- First Aid/CPR certificate desired
- Experience as an Educational Sign Language Interpreter desired
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Understanding of basic reading and math skills
