Job Summary
Assist the bus driver with loading and unloading students, including operating lifts for handicapped passengers and securing students on the bus. Monitor student behavior, enforce transportation rules, and attend to student needs during transit. Maintain discipline on the bus and assist with assigned routes and schedules as needed. Perform summer maintenance activities such as sealing parking lots, painting, and trimming shrubs when requested. Requires a valid Nebraska driver's license, high school diploma or GED, and previous experience working with children is desired.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, or GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which would provide the proper skill and knowledge to perform duties.
- Valid Nebraska Drivers License.
- Knowledge of traffic regulations.
- Knowledge of the local street and highway systems.
- Ability to interpret and apply District policies regarding transportation of students and regulation of student behavior.
- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with students.
- Ability to clearly explain the rules and regulations to students.
- Sufficient strength and agility to load and unload handicapped students.
- Auditory and visual acuity in order to perform functions of this job.
Desired Qualifications
- First Aid/CPR certification desired.
- Previous experience working with children is desired.
