Job Summary
The Classroom Support Substitute collaborates with center staff to greet parents and assist the Head Start Teacher in delivering the classroom curriculum in compliance with Head Start standards, licensing requirements, and agency guidelines. Responsibilities include supervising children per Head Start ratios, promoting safety and positive discipline, applying trauma-informed care, and guiding children with consistent expectations and behavior. The role involves moving between classrooms/centers as needed, year-round work, and occasional travel. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are desirable to support instruction and family engagement. Certifications in Pediatric CPR and First Aid are required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful completion of the Family Service Smart Start for Teacher’s ANGELS Substitute Program
- Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification
- Ability to implement appropriate teaching strategies and techniques
- Fluent in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak) desirable
