Job Summary
Para educator position for the SAIL Transition Program in Shorewood (6 hours/day, 184 days/year) supporting students with disabilities ages 18–22. Responsibilities include 1:1 or small-group instruction across academic, functional, and behavioral programs; assisting with self-care tasks (feeding, dressing, toileting) and handling repositioning/physical restraints as needed; operating special education equipment (wheelchairs, augmentative communication devices, assistive tech); applying student management techniques to prevent/self-destructive behaviors; participating in IEP and staff/parent meetings; recording observational data, logs, and behavior charts; and performing duties related to data privacy and third-party reimbursement tasks. Requires completion of Personal Care Assistant Training and meeting Highly Qualified status from MDE. Preferred experience in behavior modification strategies, CPI methods, strong organizational and communication skills, and ability to collaborate with supervising teachers and other professionals.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum hourly rate: $22.36
- Must meet highly qualified status as defined by the MDE
- Personal Care Assistant Training certification test through Minnesota Department of Human Services
- Ability to support instruction in classroom settings
- Ability to use CPI strategies
- Ability to write observational data and maintain logs
- Willingness to participate in district training programs
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and data privacy
