Class C Maintenance Repair Technician

Job Summary

Perform preventative maintenance, diagnose, and repair minor to moderate problems on a large bus fleet supporting mining operations. Execute inspections, utilize CMMS software to document all work and track vehicle trends, and apply repair manuals to address engine, transmission, electrical, brake, and undercarriage defects. Conduct both in-house and road call repairs using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and pneumatic machinery while maintaining a clean driving record and Commercial Driver's License. Work amid constant interruptions, prioritize tasks under time pressure, and perform physical activities including lifting up to 100 pounds in various weather conditions. Requires a valid Class B license, DOT physical, and one year of heavy equipment or automotive maintenance experience.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One (1) year recent heavy equipment maintenance experience or one (1) year automotive mechanical experience
  • Experience in diagnostic computer equipment
  • Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License and DOT physical
  • Must have a basic understanding of the design, adjustment, overhaul operation and maintenance of transmissions, heavy-duty engines and other bus components
  • Must be able to work amid constant interruptions and be able to prioritize, be detail oriented and deal with time pressures
  • Must have good communication skills and be able to communicate concerns, questions and diagnostic information
  • Must be autonomous and be able to self directed
  • Must have basic math skills
  • Must be able to take directions and instruction well
  • Must be able to perform physical activities including lifting up to seventy-five (75) pounds
  • Basic 2-way radio skills
  • Basic tools
  • Must have clean driving record and be able to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License, Class B
  • Attend work on a regular and dependable basis
  • Ability to successfully pass state and/or federal required Background Checks
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Ability to safely lift heavy equipment (minimum of 75 lbs can be up to 100+ pounds) frequently throughout the work day
  • Ability to comply with all policies and procedures established by company
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without restrictions

Desired Qualifications

  • ASE Certifications preferred
  • Additional training from mechanical/technical schools, courses or seminars
