Job Summary
Conduct front load garbage truck pickups of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material, transporting the material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities while making multiple trips throughout the shift. Perform pre and post inspections to ensure vehicle compliance with safety standards, DOT, OSHA, and local traffic laws. Navigate congested communities and confined city areas, executing highly skilled backing maneuvers and repeatedly lifting up to 50 pounds to mount and dismount the truck. Work Monday through Saturday shifts, including weekends, nights, and holidays, adhering to DOT regulations. Maintain a clean MVR and one-year CDL experience.
Required Qualifications
- 21 Years of Age & Legally Eligible to Work in the United States
- Valid Class A or B CDL
- Airbrake Endorsement
- 1-year CDL driving experience in the last 7 years
- Great Safety Record and Clean MVR
- Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations
- Ability to Speak & Read English to Converse with the General Public, understand Highway Traffic & Signals, Respond to Official Questions & Make Legible Entries on Reports & Records
- Read & Understand a Map
- Meet Physical & Safety Requirements of the Position
- Willing & Able to Work Required Worked Hours as Allowed Under DOT Regulation & May Include Weekend, Night &/Or Holiday Work
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to move 100 pounds
- Must be able to mount and dismount the truck multiple times
- Must be able to perform high skilled backing maneuvers
- Must be able to climb in and out of the truck cab
- Must be able to perform driver pre and post inspections
- Must be able to ensure truck is in compliance with IWS's safety standards as well as OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws
Desired Qualifications
- Front Load Garbage Truck experience
- Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuge Company
